What meditation is (and what it is not!)
Meditation is the conscious practice of training our attention on the moment we are in. We accept how our body is feeling and have a conscious awareness of our thoughts and mind.
In each 60 minute session, you will be introduced to carefully prepared guided meditations to help you do this. You can choose from 1-2-1 sessions or come with a friend.
Common misconceptions and frequently asked questions:
1. Will I be sitting in lotus position on the floor and chanting?
That is not what I do! I always sit in a chair and sometimes lie on a bed to meditate. You will be encouraged to do whatever suits you. The main thing is that you are comfortable.
2. Will I be able to do it?
Don’t worry! You can have a go and see how you feel. There is no such thing as a perfect meditation. You work at your own pace and are supported throughout the session. I have many tips to help you.
3. Will I have to empty my mind and stop my thoughts?
Actually the mind is meant to think, that’s its job. All we do is try to train our attention on one thing and if we think, we think! (In fact, it is very straightforward, especially if you practise regularly.)
4. What do I bring and what do I wear?
Just bring yourself (but feel free to bring a drink.) You don’t need to wear anything special, just whatever is comfortable for you. You will not be moving around but you will be in one place for a while, so bring a jumper if you feel the cold.
